Description Trustin Lee 2009-07-01 12:33:31 UTC
GEdit currently does not close the main window when the last tab is closed. However, many other applications such as Firefox and GNOME Terminal closes the window when its last tab is closed. Therefore, I wish GEdit closes the window when the last tab is closed by default or at least there is an option so that users can choose.

I am against this as I would like to be able to open another document after closing the last tab.
It's the difference between Ctrl+W and Ctrl+Q.
In the terminal it makes sense, as there is no "document" to open. The terminal *is* the functionality itself.
I propose WONTFIX.

I'm with André, Closing the last tab shouldn't mean close the entire app.

I agree, it's common for MDI oriented applications to stay open after the last document has been closed (see gimp, openoffice, eclipse, anjuta, monodevelop, etc). I'm closing this bug.
