GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 586976
flac files skip (only in banshee)
Last modified: 2010-05-03 02:55:28 UTC
My flac files play clean with mplayer, rhythmbox and Totem, but they often skip in banshee. It is not always reproducable and does not skip all the time: I suspect it might have to do with rewinding. I.e., it tends to happen more often after moving the seeking slider.
System: latest Ubuntu 32 bit.
the same happens with ape playback.

For awhile, seeking in flac files had been pretty broken (Bug 587643). This was recently fixed when Banshee moved to playbin2, which offers gapless playback, among other things. If your issue was at all related to seeking in flac files, there's a good chance it's fixed in the latest builds of Banshee. It would be great if you could test a recent version of Banshee (1.5.5 or newer). To use playbin2, you might also need a pretty recent version of gstreamer - if you're testing Ubuntu 10.04, the default will be new enough; if you're using 9.10, you might need to find a PPA with newer gstreamer builds.
