Description Nicolò Chieffo 2009-06-22 13:37:43 UTC
When starting totem the volume is always set to 35%
It should be set to the last used value (or at least resetted to 100%).

(This has nothing to do with alsamixer)

Steps to reproduce:
- open totem
- see the totem icon which tells that the volume is 35%
- move the volume to 100%
- close totem
- open totem again
- see that the volume is again at 35%
Comment 1 Nicolò Chieffo 2009-07-16 07:44:21 UTC
Not it is 0%!
Comment 2 Nicolò Chieffo 2009-08-21 16:27:16 UTC
Now this changed to 50%, in version 2.27.2-0ubuntu3

Are you using PulseAudio? If you are, has it been upgraded recently? From what version to what version?
Comment 4 Nicolò Chieffo 2009-08-28 13:30:58 UTC
I'm using ubuntu karmic packages. I will tell you the exact versions when I reboot.
Comment 5 Nicolò Chieffo 2009-08-28 18:22:01 UTC
I just did a clean karmic install from a livecd of yesterday. The problem is still there.
These are the package versions:
libpulse-browse0 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
libpulse-mainloop-glib0 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
libpulse0 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
pulseaudio 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
pulseaudio-esound-compat 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
pulseaudio-module-gconf 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
pulseaudio-module-udev 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
pulseaudio-module-x11 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1
pulseaudio-utils 1:0.9.16~test6-3-g57e1-0ubuntu1

I also see that the totem volume slider does not correspond to the totem volume present in gnome sound preferences, tab applications

Set the PA stream volume from Totem

...instead of having a separate one.

    - avoid setting the volume when pulsesink isn't in a state where it has
    a stream
    - don't set the volume on the stream on startup when using pulsesink
