Description stephenbryant 2009-06-22 11:34:48 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Any DVD inserted is identified as being blank - whether a Video or datat DVD - and so it never mounts it under the /media directory and has to be mounted manually to use.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Inset Video or Data DVD
2. Nautilus claims it is a blank DVD and ask whether you want to open CD Creator
3.

Actual results:
Nautilus claims it is a blank DVD and ask whether you want to open CD Creator

Expected results:
The DVD should be mounted under /media directory and you should be prompted with an option appropriate for the DVD type (e.g. "open with Movie Player" for Video DVDs).

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Double post.

I'm having similar issues. I also run Fedora 11.
I've heard it's an issue with HAL not properly auto-mounting discs as needed.

None of my CDs are auto-mounted.
I can't play them directly from CD, so I have to run Audio CD Extractor program
(Applications -> Sound -> Audio CD Extractor)

Also, I have a 2nd CD drive that is not detected at all.
As suggested by other people, I ran the lshal command as root.

The lshal output is attached in Comment #2.
I ran it when a CD was in my 2nd CD drive (not detected).

Dennis and Stephen, do you still have this problem in nautilus 2.30?
Comment 5 stephenbryant 2010-07-30 07:46:12 UTC
This appears to work now in Nautilus 2.30.

I installed Fedora 13 with Gnome Desktop which includes Nautilus 2.30 and under this, pre-recorded DVDs are detected as such and Media Player is presented as an option to open.

This issue is resolved for me.

Thanks
