GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 585645
channels with scrollback open with scrollbar at the top
Last modified: 2019-02-23 02:52:40 UTC
When I launch xchat-gnome, the channel that has the focus appears with the scrollbar at the bottom, meaning I can read the last lines of the backlog. However, if I switch to any of the other channels that were opened by default, the scrollbar is at the top. As soon as something happens on a channel, the scrollbar is correctly at the bottom when switching to it. This is what makes the bug not that annoying for most people. However, when you use an IRC bouncer, you want to see what is at the bottom of each channel, since there are the backlog lines sent by the bouncer. In this case, you have to take explicit action to scroll it down, for all but one channels.
xchat-gnome is not under active development anymore. Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/xchat-gnome/commits/master Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather reactivate the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again. You may want to switch to Hexchat (or another IRC client that suits you).
