GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 585140
Full window title as a tooltip for Window Selector items
Last modified: 2020-11-06 20:24:31 UTC
Long window titles are trimmed in the window list and thus, several windows with the same long prefix become indistinguishable. Full window title could be shown as tooltip for Window Selector items. Other information:
Er, it is.
Philip: I did not understand you. Do you mean this feature is already in 2.27? Otherwise I think we are interpreting the report wizard in different ways. I selected "Usability (This is a suggestion for how the application could be made easier to use.)" as "type of bug". And so I wrote what I think is a suggestion for how the application could be made easier to use. Thank you.
As I hover over windows with long titles in my window selector (gnome-panel 2.26), I get a tooltip with the full title; which I believe is what you want. I have checked it's not a Ubuntu-specific patch. How is your panel configured? What distribution are you running? There might be something at fault causing the tooltips not to appear.
Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop i386. I have tested it on 3 different installations. Should I report it at launchpad with some reference to this thread? > I get a tooltip with the full title; which I believe is what you want. Yes it is! > I have checked it's not a Ubuntu-specific patch. So you are using Ubuntu? Damn... me too but it is not working in my tests.

Done. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/385152 Thank you.
the bug doesn't seem ubuntu specific in any way, the list has tooltips but not the selector applet
Ah, my mistake. Window list != window selector. Sorry for the mess.
