Description Pascal Schott 2009-06-03 08:05:27 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When moving a file from a USB stick or memory card
(fat16 or fat32) to a ext3 drive mounted with ACL support, default mask of the
destination folder is not respected : thought the default mask of the
destination folder is set to rwx, the effective mask of the moved or copied
file is ---, making other ACL permissions ineffective.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a folder with an ACL default mask set to rwx
2. Move a file from a USB stick to this folder

Actual results:
Mask of the file in the destination folder is ---

Expected results:
Mask should be rwx, according to the default mask

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
On Arch Linux, mask is set to r_x, which is better but still incorrect.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
