Description heathenx 2009-05-27 20:10:34 UTC
I would love to see a frame rate option of 25.97 added to PiTiVi at some point or at least a way to add custom frame rates other than the defaults. I hope that is easy to implement.

Keep up the great work. :)
Comment 1 Edward Hervey 2009-05-28 06:42:25 UTC
interesting, I've never heard of that framerate. I'm guessing it's in fact 26000/1001 (framerates are fractions and not floating points)... but I've never seen that.

Anyway... we should actually allow any kind of framerates. Changing the title accordingly.

@Edward
Yes, you are right in your assumption that 25.97 (25.974) is the same as 26000/1001. I have been using MEncoder and 26000/1001 is in fact what I plug into my script. Regardless, if you can manage to add any frame rate to PiTiVi sometime in the future then that would be even better.

Cheers.

I guess I'm in favor of this, too. When you think about it, you may sometimes stumble upon non-standard framerates with stopmotion animation, screencasts, footage from gameplay, etc. We could use a comboboxentry widget that allows for having presets as well as inputting framerates manually.

In pitivi git, you can now set any kind of framerate in the project settings (if the framerates presets don't suit you), and those settings will be honoured in the rendering dialog too (I just tested with a custom 11 fps framerate).
