GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 582631
After upgrading to Ubuntu Jaunty, print and previewing stop working in evolution
Last modified: 2010-10-05 03:20:50 UTC
Please describe the problem: I've upgraded last week to the last Ubuntu version (codename Jaunty). After that, my wife cannot anymore print calendars, and even print preview of calendars does not work. 'not work' better say 'does nothing': even launching evolution in terminal, no error display, print and preview simply does nothing. I've then test evolution in my account, a rather empty one, on the same computer and print (and preview) work. So seems a profile problem, not a general evolution one. Steps to reproduce: Yesterday i've done ['anna' is my wife login, and name indeed ;-)]: 1) backup evolution config with backup plugin; logged out, killed all remainning process with uid anna 2) [as root] cd /home; mv anna old_anna; mkdir anna; chown anna anna 3) dpkg --purge remove evolution and reinstalled it (i think this is a user trouble and not a system trouble, but i've give it a try...) 3) relogon, clearly all anna's settings was reinitialized. 4) launch evolution, and on first wizard screen, restore all evolution settings. Still in message and calendard there's no way to print nor print preview work. Actual results: Evolution does not preview and print calendars. Expected results: Evolution have to preview and print calendars. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: I've verivied that evolution does not print (and preview) also mails, but, for example, print and preview contacts.
Can you print from GEdit or Epiphany? Trying to isolate whether this is really an Evolution problem, as I don't think Evolution's printing logic has changed recently.
Yes, both GEdit and Epiphany print and preview, as all other gnome apps. Probably in my wife's data/environment there's something wrong, but really i've no clue...
Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 2.32.0 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version" field? Thanks a lot.
Sorry, forgot that i've logged this bug. After some ubuntu upgrades, things get better. After a disk crash, i've had to restart from zero, and problem desappear. This comfirm that was a user/profile problem and not a system one (i reinstalled the same ubuntu version after disk crash). Sorry, and thanks.
Thanks Marco.
