GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 582525
Error when storing folder "INBOX" It is not possible to write to offline journal about the "INBOX" folder. Success!
Last modified: 2010-03-25 12:07:31 UTC
I have tons of problems with Evolution on one computer (and not on the other one with almost identical configuration and same version of packages; go figure!), but the most difficult one is this one: When changing between two INBOX folders I get *sometimes* exclamation mark in the status bar and when I click on that I get the error message box attached. It reads in English: "Error when storing folder "INBOX" It is not possible to write to offline journal about the "INBOX" folder. Success!" (that "Success!" cracks me whenever I see it ) The bigger problem than silly "Success" is that whatever message I move from that INBOX to somewhere else just stays there. Currently it means I cannot use this instance of Evolution for my work.
Created attachment 134596 [details] error message
on the same machine I have also bug 582531 and bug 582538
I have the same problem, already filed a bug in launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/413553 They sent me here, thus I add my comment to this bug. Distribution: Jaunty Evolution version: 2.26.1 Debian related bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=531437 I use IMAP for connection to my email server. When Evolution is fetching my new mail I get an error message saying in German: Fehler bei »Ordner wird aufgefrischt«. Offline-Journal für Ordner »INBOX« konnte nicht geschrieben werden: Success which translates to: Error while Refreshing folder. Cannot write offline journal for folder 'INBOX': Success Actually Evolution succeeds to fetch my new mails but I experience two problems: 1. I cannot move Emails from one folder to another inside my mail account 2. When closing Evolution it is taking a loooooong time Deactivated all Offline feature for every folder and account, still Evolution will not stop bugging me with above error messages and problems. In above mentioned Debian bug report the workaround is to delete the Evolution folder and restart again. Starting evolution from a terminal I will get this output: ** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: mailto URL command: evolution %s ** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: mailto URL program: evolution ** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: EI: SHELL STARTUP (evolution:6640): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text from markup due to error parsing markup: Fehler in Zeile 1, Zeichen 10: Ungültiger UTF-8-kodierter Text - »»\xd0P\x95 \x90\u0004\x83 \u0010« konnte nicht geöffnet werden: Ordner »\xd0P\x95 \x90\u0004\x83 \u0010« nicht vorhanden Änderungen an diesem Ordner werden nicht neu abgeglichen werden.« ist nicht gültig (evolution:6640): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text from markup due to error parsing markup: Fehler in Zeile 1, Zeichen 10: Ungültiger UTF-8-kodierter Text - »»\xd0P\x95 \x90\u0004\x83 \u0010« konnte nicht geöffnet werden: Ordner »\xd0P\x95 \x90\u0004\x83 \u0010« nicht vorhanden Änderungen an diesem Ordner werden nicht neu abgeglichen werden.« ist nicht gültig ** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: EI: mail_read_notify ** (evolution:6640): DEBUG: MAIL SERVER: Count changed: 0 evolution-mail-Message: Error occurred while existing dialogue active: Offline-Journal für Ordner »INBOX« konnte nicht geschrieben werden: Success
This version is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. The current stable GNOME and Evolution version is 2.30. Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 2.28 or 2.30 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version" field? Thanks a lot. Again thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed for the version you originally used here. Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE in 6 weeks.
you can close it right now ... I have switched to Thunderbird a long time ago, and I don't think I will install Evo just because of this bug, which has been most likely fixed already anyway,
