Description Gerhard Radatz 2009-05-08 08:41:11 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I recently upgraded from Ubuntu Intrepid to Jaunty, and also changed the "automatically save session on logging out" setting: It is now enabled, previously it was not.

I used Tomboy before, having added it to my top panel with the normal "add to panel" command.

When I log in again, there comes a msg box complaining about errors starting the Tomboy applet. The message box contains the "OAFIID TomboyApplet" string but not much other useful information.

However, after some trial and error I realized that the tomboy applet actually gets started twice:
1) by the gnome panel
2) by the gnome session manager

(There is a saved session entry in the .config/gnome-session/saved-session directory).

Only if I change the option in "startup programs" back to not automatically save the session on logging out and manually remove the file in .config/gnome-session/saved-session which contains the tomboy startup info, tomboy will start without complaining during the next login.

So, I think to solve this problem, tomboy must avoid being saved by the gnome session manager, since it will be started by the panel anyway.
