GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 58153
right arrow key useless during "auto-complete" of URL
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
When typing a URL into the textfield at the top of the browser, if auto-complete kicks in, the proposed completion is added to the current text, but is highlighted in gray. at this point, i expect to be able to press the right arrow key and have the cursor move to the end of the proposed URL. however, pressing the right arrow key has no effect. if i press the left arrow key at this point, the cursor moves to the next to the last character in the proposed URL. the proposed URL becomes unhighlited. if i press a character at this point, the "grayed-in" proposed completion is replaced with that character. i expected this. is this a toolkit widget issue? i compiled galeon from the src.rpm on my PPC box.
I'm not seeing this here. Pressing the right arrow key deselects the suggested text and moves the cursor all the way to the right. Pressing the left arrow key deselects the suggested text and leaves the cursor in the current position. I don't remember ever seeing behavior different from this. :/
this may be a PPC-specific issue. i'm not sure. what provides that text widget? maybe i can recompile that package, and then recompile galeon.
i upgraded my gtk+ rpm from the stock gtk+-1.2.8 to the ximian gtk+-1.2.10-ximian.9 rpm. this fixed the problem.
