GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 581429
Use Right Arrow and Left Arrow Keys to Expand/Collapse Folders in Spatial View
Last modified: 2009-05-24 07:19:52 UTC
The right and left arrow keys are currently unused in list view. The arrow keys are more convenient to use because you have vour fingers on the up/down arrow keys anyway when navigating a folder tree by keyboard. Right/left are usually next to up/down while plus/minus are not. I suggest that nautilus expands a folder when pressing "+" or right and collapses it when pressing "-" or left. (BTW: This is how windows explorer's tree view does it) Other information: Ubuntu Launchpad question (not mine) about this: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+question/61908
This also applies to tree view btw. In Ubuntu brainstorm, this got >300 votes: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/8466/
You can use Shift-Right/Shift-Left or +/- to expand/collapse. Marking as a duplicate of bug 105895 as it's actually a gtk+ issue. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 105895 ***
