Description Arnaud Dessein 2009-05-02 16:08:16 UTC
In Evolution Contacts one can create a preview window pressing Ctrl+M or
in menu View > Contact Preview.

The window appears under the contact list. I think it is not convenient
at all because the details appear in a vertical row. There is not enough room and the user has to scroll to see all the details.

It would be better if the window could appear on the right of the list ("Portrait" orientation if you know what I mean).

Thank you.

I'm thinking about adding a vertical mode for all components that have a preview pane (everything but Calendar), similar to what the Mailer already has.

I appreciate the attention for this problem, but why was my bug #351620 marked as a duplicate of this bug? This bug report was submitted in May 2009, while I submitted my bug report in August 2006. Shouldn't later bug reports be marked as duplicates of the first bug report?

I take offense, because marking my bug as a duplicate tells me that I didn't do my work as a bug reporter correctly, not having searched for any existing bug reports related to the problem. That is of course not true because I reported it first, so I don't consider it fair to mark my bug report as a duplicate of this one.
Comment 5 Matthew Barnes 2009-05-22 11:51:01 UTC
Don't take it personally, it's not a reflection on you. Akhil was just consolidating bug reports so us developers have one less to deal with. A bug is a bug, regardless of who reported it or when.

This is done now. As of Evolution 2.29.1, vertical view will be available in Mail, Contacts, Memos and Tasks. Closing as fixed.
