Description Severo Raz 2009-05-01 22:17:51 UTC
I think that evolution should be let to be minimized to the tray.

While minimized to tray, one would be able to choose the options that the left click triggers, setting this as a basic setup:

1. Left-click: Open Evolution
2. Right-click: Choose between:
--Send/Recieve Mail
--Compose to...
--Properties (of the notifier, or the name given to this daemon
--Quit

Now, it would not be intelligent to have this daemon, and have the alarm notifier at the same time, so this would be a merge of them both.

I highly encourage the naming of this component "Evolution notifier", if it matters for you the developers.

GNOME does not have a "system tray". Hence this is a WONTFIX.
Comment 3 Severo Raz 2009-05-05 00:10:15 UTC
Well, the notification area then; the gnome-panel widget where other applications minimize to, like banshee... pidgin...gnome-do...should i continue? Maybe it could be just a plugin.
Comment 4 André Klapper 2009-05-05 07:57:48 UTC
Yeah, these are all applications that are not officially included in GNOME and which abuse the notification area. See http://www.go-evolution.org/FAQ#Can_I_minimize_the_Evolution_window_to_the_system_tray.3F for a workaround.
