Description Joel 2009-04-27 23:33:08 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When trying to burn a video CD I get the message:

"Please replace the disc with a supported CD or DVD.

It is not possible to write with the current set of plugins."

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Brasero
2. Click "Video project"
3. Add a file
4. Click "Burn..."

Actual results:
I get the error message and the burn button is disabled.

Expected results:
Either a message telling me what plugin(s) I need/how to get them. Or the ability to actually but the video CD.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
In an older version there was no message and the "burn" button was disabled, now there is a message that doesn't help much and the "burn" button is still disabled.

I ran the brasero -g command.

This file ends right after I get the problem, it does not include the part where I closed brasero.

I attached what you wanted. I cut the log off right after the problem. I didn't include the part while I closed the application.

Ok try with this: brasero -g > log 2>&1 to get the full log.

Thanks for the fast reply.

I did what you said. I have attached the file that got named "l", there's also a file named "log2", but it is blank.

Don't worry about the logs what you attached was fine. I had a look and it seems you are missing mplex gstreamer plugin which usually is in gst-plugins-ugly or gst-plugins-bad. You can check if the plugin was properly installed with "gst-inspect|grep mplex".
Please install one of these packages and retry. Thanks.

I am now using the live CD 9.10 of Ubuntu and I am having the same problem as before, even with the newer version of Brasero. I did the command you requested after installing gstreamer-plugins-ugly/bad. It returned no result. I have attached a new log.

Sorry I got confused and marked the wrong bug as duplicate. Apologies.
As for this bug, I have now an ubuntu install that matches your version at home, I'll see what I can do.
