GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579844
Totem cannot seek in HTTP stream
Last modified: 2009-04-22 15:40:08 UTC
Totem cannot seek in an HTTP streamed video served from my XBMC media centre. The seek bar is disabled, and the status bar says (streaming). Totem will seek in mp3s served from the same XBMC media centre, and a second XBMC used as a client can also seek in the stream, so it's not impossible. Details of the HTTP stream: $ HEAD http://192.168.1.109:61698/content%3Fpath=%2fhome%2faquarius%2fVideos%2ftv%2fTop%20Gear%2fSeries%2010%2fTop%20Gear%2010x01%202007-10-07.avi 200 OK Connection: keep-alive User-Agent: Platinum/0.4.7 Accept-Ranges: bytes Server: Platinum/0.4.7 Content-Length: 732127232 Content-Type: video/avi Client-Date: Wed, 22 Apr 2009 15:08:43 GMT Client-Peer: 192.168.1.109:61698 Client-Response-Num: 1
As a data point, mplayer can play this stream and seek in it, which means that it's not some xbmc magic thing.
