Description Dave Jewett 2009-04-21 16:32:33 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When using the 'empty trash' command, either from the File menu item, or by doing a right-click on the trash folder, the trash is not deleted. Nothing appears to happen.

I have a hunch that this is related to my current folder-set, number of emails, etc; and that it is not easily reproducible.

I general, I have a lot of emails; and I have encountered some buggy behavior with Evolution (and to a lesser extent, Thunderbird). I believe there may be a problem with the ability of the email file-format to handle large quantities of data.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Right-click on trash folder.
2. Select "Empty Trash" menu item.
3. Observe that the trash folder contents remain

Actual results:
Nothing appears to happen.

Expected results:
The trash folder contents would be removed.

Does this happen every time?
Yes. On my current system.

Other information:
I have a hunch that this is related to my current set of folders, number of emails, etc; and that it is not easily reproducible.

I general, I have a lot of emails; and I have encountered some buggy behavior with Evolution (and to a lesser extent, Thunderbird). I believe there may be a problem with the ability of the email file-format to handle large quantities of data. This may have side effects such as what I am reporting. This is just a guess.

This bug could also be responsible for much more catastrophic behavior - such as memory leaks that could crash Evolution.

I consider this much more serious than a "Normal" bug; but its current behavior warrants the "Normal" label.
