GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579474
Add "Turn Bluetooth on/off" option.
Last modified: 2009-07-22 04:24:50 UTC
It would be nice to add an option to turn Bluetooth adapter on and off to the applet menue, similar to blueman's approach. I hate this blinking :)
What blinking? And there's already the ability to turn the Bluetooth adapter on/off. Which version of gnome-bluetooth are you using?
I use 2.27.4, but I don't see an option in bluetooth-applet to turn bluetooth dongle on/off there. Sure, I can do hciconfig hci0 down, but that's not the same. As for blinking, I was actually referring to the LED on my bluetooth USB dongle, sorry for the misunderstanding.
I take it the device is an add-on USB dongle, not built into the machine? In which case, disabling it means unplugging it.
Not necessary, hciconfig hci0 down generally helps too (I believe there is some dbus option for that too). I was simply wondering whether it is possible to implement such a function onto bluetooth-applet too. And whether it makes sense for you, of course. Personally, I would find such an addition useful.
