GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 577745
Focus not on accounts list after clicking Accounts tab
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:20:15 UTC
It would be cool if the focus went to the Accounts list when you click the tab so you can just start typing the account name. When I have focus on any account line (by clicking on an account in the Accounts list, NOT by clicking on the Accounts tab), I can select any account in the list, IF it is not collapsed into a superior account, by typing the first few characters of the account name. If I leave your hands off the mouse, I can open the account by pressing the Enter key, enter stuff, close the tab with Ctrl-W, select another account, and so forth. For example, to select my account: Assets:Current Assets:Checks Received I can type type "checks" to select it (as long as it is not collapsed under Current Assets or Assets). P.S.: Bugzilla.gnome.org is slow as molasses today! Other information:
Bug 378728 describes the same problem, but for a register tab. I am not sure the solution would be identical for both bugs, so I'll keep them open separately.

I've decided to mark the others as duplicates anyway. I believe the issue is the same and the solution should be similar. So to summarize: - clicking on a tab keeps the focus on a tab instead of passing the focus on to the tab's child - when starting gnucash the focus is on the toolbar buttons instead of on the active tab's content
