I can confirm this bug. Steps to reproduce:
1. Take a screenshot. Choose "Copy to clipboard" and close the window.
2. Try to paste somewhere. Nothing happens.
3. Try step 1 again, this time *do not* close the window
4. Try to paste somewhere. Works as expected.

Can confirm that, gnome-utils 2.30.0-2 (Debian).

I also have the impression it's a regression - before the last months, I had never seen this problem.

This was actually a bug in gnome-settings-daemon which got fixed now for 3.2.
