Description j7s12b 2001-07-18 02:12:22 UTC
How Gimp Crashes,
"LibGimp-WARNING **: script-fu: wire_read: unexpected EOF"

***********************************************************

1. open The Gimp
2. double click on any tool
3. close the resulting dialog box
4. then switch to any of the following tools;

	color picker
	fill
	fill gradient
	pencil
	fuzzy brush
	airbrush
	patern brush (clone?)
	ink draw

this causes all gimp windows to simply dissapear with the
following message in the terminal;

	Segmentation fault (core dumped)
	[root@ci2186-a /root]#
	LibGimp-WARNING **: script-fu: wire_read: unexpected EOF

Switching to any tools other then those listed above does not
crash Gimp, but as soon as you do select one of those tools
lised....   *POOF*, it goes.

I have uninstalled Gimp 1.2.1 and compiled/installed 1.2.2-pre3. It also has the same problem.
Comment 2 Simon Budig 2001-07-18 16:22:12 UTC
I'd guess, that this is the same problem as in #55735. The Problem
is the default Mandrake GTK+-Theme. Have a look at
http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/security/2001/MDKA-2001-010.php3
for details. Please report if that fixes your problem.

Upgrading
8.0/RPMS/mandrake_desk-8.0-12.1mdk.i586.rpm 8.0/SRPMS/mandrake_desk-8.0-12.1mdk.src.rpm
Did fix the problem!
 Thank you for the help!!

The packages were a little hard to find though (for newbie dummies like me:). I used Mandrake Update and clicked Reload List. The simple solution's are sometimes the hardest.
HA!

thanx again
Comment 4 Sven Neumann 2001-07-19 17:12:29 UTC
Crash was due to Mandrake's GTK+ theme.
