Description Michał Karnicki 2009-03-27 00:15:12 UTC
Please describe the problem:
If I use Configuration Editor and navigate to:
/apps/nautilus/preferences/
and unclick show_desktop, multiple instances of "Starting File Manager" windows are spawned (increasing number, lower gnome panel fills with them) until I select show_desktop again so that it is checked.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Navigate Applications -> System Tools -> Configuratio Editor
2. Navigate to /apps/nautilus/preferences/
3. Uncheck show_desktop
4. To stop spawning dummy windows, check show_desktop.

Actual results:
Multiple instances of "Starting File Manager" windows are spawned to gnome panel at the bottom, although they don't show up on the desktop. The moment you select show_desktop again, windows stop to spawn and seconds later they disappear one by one from the gnome panel.

Expected results:
Only that the icons from the desktop are hidden.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
I am using Jaunty 9.04 Alfa 6. Would be grateful if someone checked and /if so/ confirmed the bug.

I can confirm this bug, using Archlinux with gnome 2.26, but i presume the bug is in nautilus, since i workarounded the issue downgrading nautilus to 2.24.2 and keeping gconf in 2.26.0.

Definitely a nautilus problem.
