GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 576404
evolution-mapi: Permanently processing >17000 folders
Last modified: 2009-05-28 03:43:26 UTC
Please describe the problem: The exchange server that holds my account seems to hold more than 17000 folders. Whenever evolution connects to that server all those >17000 folders are read. This lasts around 30 minutes on every startup of evolution and makes it not very usable. Steps to reproduce: Using the actual ubuntu 9.04 with all pathces applied. Configure an account with an exchange-mapi server. Actual results: When configuring the account, you have to click 'Authenticate' This usually fails the first time. If you try again Authentication finished successfully. Finish the configuration and you get the message: "Folder in Exchange MAPI server are being read(...) My server holds more than 17000 folders. Every time I login, those folders are processed. Expected results: Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
17000 ? :) thatz a alot . but yes we can look at how to reduce the number of times for scanning the folders.
I might have a related problem in the fact that the memory consumption sky-rockets. Evolution was at one time using 2.3G virtual. And caused my machine to go swapping. Also jaunty with all updates. But correct me if this is a separate bug, that I will create one.

I have no clue, I even do not know the operators of that server. How do I determine whether the folders are public or personal?
I've got the same issue: Hundreds or thousands of public folders being scanned each time. I think this is probably a duplicate of bug 580682, but I don't have the rights to make that official.
