Description Orso della campagna 2009-03-23 09:11:38 UTC
If I open the "Connect to server..." dialog and press the "Conenct" button without any field filled, it correctly warns me and the dialog is still there.

But if I choose, for example, to connect to a FTP server and I specify an IP address, if the IP address is wrong it warns me and the dialog closes. This means I have to open again the dialog, and enter again all the data I already filled.

The right way to behave for me should be to warn the user about the wrong data and to give him the chance to correct the fields to try again.

there is a similar request on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352569

"On choosing Places->Connect to server..., data is entered for the connection. If the connection information is bad, an error is shown, and the dialog disapears, forcing re-selection of Places->Connect and re-entry of connection info. On failure, it should re-display the information dialog to allow for editing of bad info and re-try of connection. If the correct info is unknown (unattainable), then Cancel could be pressed to stop the procedure."

This is already fixed in nautilus 2.91.x, thanks for the report.
