Description Thomas 2009-03-12 17:41:02 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Hallo,

Upon moving a chunk of mail to a subfolder of the current folder, the labels of those emails would be lost, and I mean lost, not just invisible, because I restarted the app.

I didn't quite know, if I should report this problem, since I could not reproduce it. But it definitely occurred. Timing issues, maybe? If you can give me advice on how to test this further (breakpoints in gdb, log output, etc) I can get into it a little more.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?

I remember, I did use Ctrl-E to purge the folder from which I moved
Comment 2 Thomas 2009-05-16 23:11:01 UTC
Just had this happening again today and yesterday with fairly recent git version of 2.27.2.
1.) I receive a mail from my imap account.
2.) A filter moves the mail to the local INBOX.
3.) I add some labels to the mail
4.) I move the mail to a different folder
5.) I go to that folder and the mail isn't there. Yesterday I opened ~/.evolution/mail/local/folders.db and the mail would not show up in the table for that folder.
6.) I type a letter occurring in the subject of the mail in question into the search box, hit return, and there suddenly is the mail. I clear the search field and the mail doesn't show up.
7.) I close evolution and also do a --force-shutdown and restart the app
8.) The mail now is visible in the folder but the labels are gone

Might there be a problem with the cache? How can I test this? I just could not reproduce it!!

Had the problem again today. At least found a workaround. Move the mail again to the same folder. Now, both mails are visible and also in folders.db.

I checked which processes of evolution where running after quitting the app and there were two:
- evolution-data-server 2.28 from my self built version in /opt/evo and...
- evolution-exchange storage from the default gnome installation 2.26 in /usr/lib...

I uninstalled evolution 2.26... will see if it happens again.

Nope, that wasn't it.
