GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 574534
Evolution Mail and Calendar: mail spool cuto to zero ...
Last modified: 2009-07-27 04:15:30 UTC
mail spool cuto to zero -- loosing all mail since a some days I've learned to copy my /var/mail/mailbox file elsewhere to avoid loosing mail again and again. I could not deduce a definitive pattern, when it occurs. But when I have some new mail and some spam and change selection from the inbox folder elsewhere and back to the inbox than I see error "can't get message" (or alike - german version here) and the mail spool file is empty. Workaround: xkill evolution; copy the backup of the mail spool into it's original place; rm -rf ~/.evolution/mail/spool/var/mail/*; restart evolution; hope for the best (often repeat twice here); delete all mails you want to delete in sequence and expunge folder (no other actions); create a new backup copy of the mail spool. Distribution: Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid) Gnome Release: 2.24.1 2008-10-24 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.24.1

the priority should be Immediate and severity "critical"
Can you try with a newer version of evolution and confirm? 2.24.1 was way old and lots of fixes went in since then.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug; however, closing due to lack of response of the reporter, sorry. if you still see this issue with a current release of evolution (2.26.3 or later), please reopen. thanks in advance.
