Description Stefan Knorr 2009-02-05 14:10:42 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When I try to adjust the volume via the Multimedia keys on my keyboard while Rhythmbox is running and the main window is open AND when compositing (either Compiz's or Metacity's) is on, Rhythmbox will freeze for several seconds before transparent volume overlay comes up and will only then become usable again.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Turn compositing on
2. Start Rhythmbox (leave main window open)
3. Adjust volume with multimedia keys on keyboard.

Actual results:
Freezing, volume adjusts only after seconds, desktop becomes almost unusable (other applications will also freeze if given focus).

Expected results:
No freeze, volume immediately adjusting.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
* Only when compositing is on
* Only with Rhythmbox, not with Banshee, Totem, Miro, VLC
