GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 569970
Evince must not remember Page Setup settings of the print dialog
Last modified: 2009-01-31 17:07:16 UTC
Evince currently remembers the settings of the whole print dialog, even through different invocations and reboots. This is really annoying: 1. Print a multi-page document with "4 pages on one sheet". [... several days pass ...] 2. Print another document and expect the settings to be the default again (do not look at the "Page Setup" tab in the print dialog) Expected outcome: The second document gets printed with default settings and "1 page per sheet" (the default) Actual outcome: Evince remembers the last setting (4 pages per sheet) and prints my new document in this setting, too - even though I did not configure it to do so All the other print systems I checked (Windows, Mac OS X) also behave like the "Expected outcome". It is more natural for the print dialog to start out with the previous settings. When I want to print something, I expect it to have sane defaults and let me choose different settings. Of course, having the same document open in the invocation of the program should remember the print dialog settings (this is also how Mac OS X's Preview application does it). This is useful for when you want to set the quality to draft, then print "odd pages only" and then print "even pages only" without having to set the draft setting again. The current behaviour of evince is just plain wrong :( What needs to be done for this bug to be fixed: 1.) Reset print dialog settings to default when evince is started 2.) Reset print dialog settings to default when a new document is opened
