Here's a patch that Ming Xi Wu <mxwu novell com> did to fix the issue described in the summary. Here's his analysis:

It causes by missing sync the attributes between real file and NautilusFile.

When file is in trash, gio API assumes that the file should not be renamed and
modified, these attributs have been saved in a NautilusFile object.

Thanks Vincent, but we've already seen that patch in the other bug, and it's definitely not acceptable in that form. You can see my comments on it in the other bug.
