GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 568538
close confirmation for tabs
Last modified: 2009-03-02 17:48:38 UTC
Hi there -- When I try to click on the body of a tab to switch to it, I have a nasty habit of hitting the "X" icon on a tab, causing it to close, instead. It'd be great if there was a confirmation dialog, confirming that this close action was what was desired. (BTW, KDE 3.x's konsole did this.)
I do not think this is a good idea. Most people are used to this behaviour and would be annoyed at the additional click they would have to make. If you have a problem with accidently shutting your tabs, you might consider to simply slow down a little bit or use Alt+<Number of the tab you want to access> or Ctrl+PageDown and Ctrl+PageUp to navigate through your tabs. However, this might be implemented as an optional feature, certainly not as the default behavior.
There already is a gconf key for this, /apps/gnome-terminal/global/confirm_window_close (despite the name, it also works for single tabs).
Any remaining issues with close confirmation are in bug 168320. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 168320 ***
