Please describe the problem:
i've got stk11xx 1.4.0 module installed with kernel 2.6.28 on archlinux.
skype, ekiga, camorama and gstreamer-properties all see the camera fine.
/dev/video0 has the right permissions and the user is on video group.
and still - cheese cannot find the camera.

this is a known issue with ubuntu 8.10 (i guess you are using it too).

Yes, it is indeed a known issue, but not that one (I'd say fortunately... we're getting a duplicate rate of one per day, I'm getting bored about Ubuntu update policies)

Anyway, reporter, it is a known issue from stk11xx driver. Developers should be already aware of it, because the reporter from the duplicate bug opened a ticket in their bug tracker. It seems to be gone unnoticed though.. so feel free to contact them again and point them to my fix (see the other bug in the next comment).

well, i dont use ubuntu - as stated in the bug, i use archlinux, but i will try to fix it my self thanks.
