Please describe the problem:
Duplicated connections problem

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install VirtualBox 2.1.0 i386 in Ubuntu 8.10
(http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/2.1.0/virtualbox-2.1_2.1.0-41146_Ubuntu_intrepid_i386.deb)

2. Create new kernel module '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' 
3. After compilation of kernel virtualbox module you have more duplicated connections :)


Actual results:
Connections are duplicated as on my screenshot

Expected results:


Does this happen every time?
Yes.

It looks like the problem lies with VirtualBox and DKMS sending duplicate events to HAL [1].  Please follow the launchpad reports and ensure that HAL does not list duplicate network cards in 'lshal'.  If HAL does not list duplicates but NetworkManager still does, then there's an NM bug.  But I'm not convinced of that yet due to the reports in the Launchpad bug.
