GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 567403
Banshee search does not query genre correctly
Last modified: 2009-01-11 19:47:24 UTC
Please describe the problem: When using banshee query to get a certain genre of music genre is not correctly querried. For example: with the query by=="Frank Sinatra" it returns any tracks by Frank. And the query title=="Blue Skies" returns blue skys by Frank. But doing the query genre=="Jazz" returns nothing even though all my Frank Sinatra tracks are the Jazz genre. Another example. Placing just 'rock' in the search field returns 85 albums and 155 tracks. This includes "Rock and Roll Music" by The Beatles, and Aerosmith's "Rocks" album. By contrast with the query genre:rock I get a return of 492 albums and 5467 tracks, on anything that has Rock in the genre including 'Hard Rock', 'Rock', 'Alternative Rock', etc. Further, the query genre=="rock" returns nothing. So in short, genre is not included in a regular search, and not all search options are implemented for genre. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start Banshee 2. perform query for a genre that you know you have. (i.e.: if you have the rock genre perform search genre=="rock") 3. And watch as no tracks are returned. Actual results: See above Expected results: I expect genres to be returned just as artist, title, or year would be. Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
