Description Roberto 2009-01-03 11:02:32 UTC
On Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, Banshee 1.2.1 and the latest version (I tried the both) crash when my Creative Zen is pluggin in MTP-USB-Player.
Banshee crashes in the presence of an MTP digital audio player (in my case Creative). Crash happens whether the MTP device is plugged in before or after Banshee is started.

When starting via Terminal, I get a long output with the following message at the end:

Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates
a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries
used by your application.

Test Case: Start Banshee, then plug in an MTP device. If it crashes, the bug is present. Otherwise, it is not.

See http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17419596/banshee_output.txt for the complete output of Banshee crash.

The bugue was here for few month and not yet fixed.
Comment 1 Roberto 2009-01-03 11:04:47 UTC
I have forgotten to say that I have found a temporary way to fix this bugue : download this version : http://ppa.launchpad.net/hyperair/ubuntu/pool/main/b/banshee/
Comment 2 Bertrand Lorentz 2009-01-03 13:20:54 UTC
Could you reproduce the crash with banshee 1.4.1 and post the log output here ?

PLease also specify which version(s) of libmtp you have on your system.
Comment 3 Roberto 2009-01-03 15:03:18 UTC
I have the defaut Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex version of libmtp : libmtp8

Here the log output of Banshee 1.4.1 downloaded here : http://ppa.launchpad.net/banshee-team/ubuntu/pool/main/b/banshee/ :
