Description Thomas 2008-12-22 16:42:11 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I have a virtual folder where I added 3 search criteria:
* labels contain <word1>
* labels contain <word2>
* Sent-date is more than one month ago

When I created the vfolder the mails show correctly. But when I log on the next day, there should be more mails showing for this vfolder, which it does not.

Only when I change the search criteria, close and reopen the dialog and reset it to the desired value, the mails show. Also, if I deleted ~/.evolution/mail/vfolder/folders.db, and restart evolution, the mails would show up.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?

Local mails having been moved via filtering from an imap account.

Happened in the subversion trunk version. And it still is in the git version as well.

I have similar problems with my vfolders (2.26.2 from Debian sid): they show unread mail in the sidebar while there aren't any, and anyway more than they are.

Cheers,
steko

can this go to "confirmed" now? looks like bug 605456 is a dup and this happens to me also.

would it be possible to raise the importance too? for me this is the key feature which marks out evolution above other email clients. don't know if that's a common feeling though.

It seems to work fine with actual master (~2.30.0). The only thing is that it shows al the mails from specified folders only after the folder is opened in the underlying structures (I saw a little delay on startup, but otherwise everything there, even the next two starts).

Could anyone of you try to reproduce with the upcoming 2.30.0+, please? Thanks in advance.

I'll close it for now. But please reopen if you can try with a more recent version of Evolution.
Comment 10 chris 2010-06-11 13:07:28 UTC
hmm. it kind of seems to be doing the complete opposite now (in 2.30.1.2)

that is to say, new messages do appear in IMAP and Search folders but if i close evo, wait a while and then start evo again i (sometimes/often/always?) see only those messages which arrived since i closed evo!

i'm pretty sure i've seen this behaviour before, a few releases ago. are we flipping the rules back and forth trying to solve two incompatible behaviours/requirements?
