Description Pupeno 2008-12-18 07:30:10 UTC
Please, offer a filter (for incomming mails) that match on contact. Currently you can match: is, is not, contains, does not contain, etc. It would be nice to filter on a specific contact.

When picking up that filter, the textbox should autocomplete or become a combobox with the list of people. In that way, when I add a new email address for a person, or if the person changes email address, I have to change it only one place: the contact. The filter will pick it up automatically.

It would also be nice if there was some way of grouping contacts and filtering on a group. Not sure if there's any grouping feature, if you want I can file a separate bug for that.
Comment 1 Pupeno 2008-12-18 07:30:34 UTC
Probably categories would be "groups".

The current categories seem indeed to provide something similar.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

That bug report is centered around categories, does it also include filtering in one contact?
Comment 4 Paul Bolle 2008-12-18 18:52:10 UTC
Bug #203062 is literally about "using data from contacts for filtering", which also covers your request. See, for instance, the second comment: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203062#c2 . Lots of other ideas tossed around too.
