Description Guillaume Desmottes 2008-12-15 10:41:40 UTC
Drag and dropping a file from Nautilus to Empathy's contact list or a 1-1 chat window should send the file to this contact.

Make sure we can drag pictures from our browsers.
Comment 4 Xavier Claessens 2009-05-12 08:52:21 UTC
About DnD, something Guillaume did for xchat-gnome was a good idea:
When droping a text file on the chat window, if the file is big it initiate a file transfer, otherwise it sends as IM message.
Comment 5 Guillaume Desmottes 2009-05-12 09:11:44 UTC
Oh, I completely forgot I did that. It was ages ago. :)

That was only for txt file IIRC and actually I'm not sure that was a so good idea. Maybe we should always send the file to offer a coherent user experience.
Comment 6 Pierre-Luc Beaudoin 2009-05-12 13:30:24 UTC
IMHO I think it the file is dragged from a browser, it should send the web link, otherwise initiate transfer.
Comment 7 Praveen Thirukonda 2009-06-27 14:12:13 UTC
there seem to be some case-specific ideas here which if implemented do make the overall experience better but for sake of consistency whenever a "intelligent" decisionn is made for some specific cases there should be a easily accessible option (maybe right clicking) where there should be a option like "just send the file".

Closing this bug as dup of #595226 as it has a branch attached.
