GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 564246
Exchange plugin does not see all emails in mailbox
Last modified: 2009-08-24 12:41:03 UTC
Please describe the problem: When I look at my exchange mailbox thru Outlook on a MS Windowss PC, there are emails which I do not see when I look at the same mailbox thr Evolution. Steps to reproduce: 1. Allow a significant numberof emils to accumlate (more than 100 will usually do it) 2. Open evolution and look at the emails. If you like, empty the mailbox by moving or deleting all messages. That is not required but makes it easier to see the problem. 3. Open Outlook, see messages you do not see in Evolution. In the last 3 dys, I have accumulated about such 30 messages. I would estimate I have received about 500 emails in that period. Actual results: Email messages exist in Outlook that do not exist in the Evolution Exchange mailbox Expected results: I would expect to see them Does this happen every time? Frequently, but not every message. I do not see a pattern. Other information: Sometimes I export all the messages in Outlook to a PST file, delete the messages in outlook and re-import them back into Outlook. When I return to my Linux machine, they are visible in Evolution where they can be processed.
Just tried my work around and it did NOT work this time. Odd behavior, I was watching the Evolution Exchange Inbox folder as evolution was starting up. For less than 1 second, the inbox icon showed INBOX (37) indicating 37 unread messages, but it immediantly changed to not bold, none unread and the folder itself ws empty. So Evo THOUGHT it saw the messages for one moment and then they were gone.
did you check junk folder ? they would have been moved to junk folder. Check your junk mail setting in menu > edit > preferences
Not in junk. Important thing is that they ARE on the exchange server. I can see them on the exchange web interface or if I find a windows machine and use Outlook. They are invisible only in evolution. Another work around that really seems to work is to shutown evo, delete the ~/.evolution/exchange and ~/.evolution/mail/exchange directories, and restart evo.
I can confirm Jim's comments and finding's - this mostly happens to me on the Inbox, but it has happened on other folders. As with Jim, viewing them in OWA or in Outlook shows the messages.
