Description leedjarv 2001-06-19 21:54:59 UTC
These strings are marked for translation, is it correct?

#: ui/galeon.glade.h:2
"%P %%" -- What's this?

#: ui/galeon.glade.h:3
"0" -- :D

#: ui/galeon.glade.h:4
"0.5" \
#: ui/galeon.glade.h:5 -- l10n?
"00:00.00" /

#: ui/preferences.glade.h:1
" " -- ??

#: ui/preferences.glade.h:3
"%s" -- ??

#: ui/preferences.glade.h:6
"1.0" \
#: ui/preferences.glade.h:7 -- HTTP version strings
"1.1" /

# src/trans.h:97 src/trans.h:108
                                    #: ui/preferences.glade.h:286

msgid "nt %s"
                                        -- l10n?

#: ui/preferences.glade.h:288
                                    msgid "wget -N -c %s"

-- l10n?

Also are translated util names, suchs as "gedit", "gless", "gnome-edit"
etc. Is this neccesary?

Actually, seems like xml-i18n problem, because all the strings are from
glade files... I guess translating them just can't be prevented?
Comment 1 Christian Rose 2001-06-19 22:31:55 UTC
This is a bug in glade, not in Galeon nor xml-i18n-tools.

There's no way for the glade developer to decide whether a string
should be marked for translation or not. The glade format does not
support this yet.

xml-i18n-tools actually tries to filter the most obvious
should-not-be-translated strings from glade (like "labelXYZ"), but
obviously it cannot filter everything.
Comment 2 Matt Aubury 2001-06-20 16:58:57 UTC
Setting product to Glade.
Comment 3 Damon Chaplin 2001-10-10 21:38:03 UTC
Glade should probably include a flag in the property editor to
mark any strings used as translatable or not. Maybe a small
toggle button next to the string property, or an option on a
popup menu.

Hopefully in Glade2 we will mark translatable strings in the
XML file in some way, so that tools like xml-i18n-tools will
be able to find them more easily.

GNOME2-related spam. search on 'luis doing GNOME2 work' to filter these out.
Comment 5 Kjartan Maraas 2002-04-21 22:20:16 UTC
I think this is fixed in 2.0 by translatable="yes". no?
Comment 6 Damon Chaplin 2003-04-01 14:47:42 UTC
no, it still isn't possible to specify which labels & pieces of
text get translated and which don't from within Glade.
