Description Havard Rue 2008-12-12 08:08:45 UTC
If I move a read mail to another folder, by dragging it by the mouse, then, sometimes, the mail shows up in the side-bar as unread, although it does not appear to be unread when I open the new folder. I'm only able to 'fix' this by marking the message as `unread', and then `read' again.

Distribution: Fedora release 10 (Cambridge)
Gnome Release: 2.24.2 2008-11-25 (Red Hat, Inc)
BugBuddy Version: 2.24.2

What type of account(s) (IMAP, POP3, etc.) is (are) involved?
Comment 2 Havard Rue 2008-12-12 13:12:19 UTC
It's POP3
Comment 3 Paul Bolle 2008-12-12 13:38:00 UTC
Would probably be helpful if this would be narrowed from "sometimes" to something more specific (i.e. if this would reproducible). So if you find out in which circumstances this will always happen, please add that information to this bug. (This can be quite time consuming, I'm afraid.)
Comment 4 Paul Bolle 2008-12-12 14:00:47 UTC
Note that I seem to remember a number of unread count mismatch bugs recently (though I did not manage to find a duplicate of this one). Those might be related to this one (where dropping the mail in another folder triggers some recount with incorrect results).
Comment 5 Havard Rue 2008-12-12 15:56:18 UTC
I placed a recording of the bug at

http://www.math.ntnu.no/~hrue/hfiles/evo-bug.ogg

recorded with Istanbul (not very good...), but it shows (or should show) me moving a email into that folder and it appear as unread in the leftmost overview, and then I mark it as unread and then read and then its fine.
Comment 6 Paul Bolle 2008-12-12 17:03:25 UTC
0) You moved a mail from a search folder (a virtual folder). Does the same thing happen when you move between two non-virtual folders?

1) Can confirm the mismatch between unread status in the message list and the side bar folder list in this case (moving from virtual folder to non virtual folder).

Comment 7 Havard Rue 2008-12-12 18:54:17 UTC
I'm unable to reproduce the bug when moving from a non-virtual folder.

0) Thanks. Updating summary accordingly.

1) Devs: there seem to be more virtual folder count bugs. Is this related?

2) Devs: what actually is the expected behaviour? My first thought is that a read message moved from a virtual folder to a plain folder should stay read.

Some issues with incorrect unread counts are being addressed in bug 557348.

Havard:
Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 3.0.3
or 3.2.2 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version"
field and provide information about your distribution? Thanks a lot.
Comment 11 Havard Rue 2012-01-26 21:52:11 UTC
Seems to be no problem in Evo 3.2.3 ;-)
