Description neal vadekar 2008-12-10 23:56:46 UTC
as suggested in a several postings over the years, i am posting a bug report requesting that copy and paste functionality be implemented in dia with the end goal of allowing end users to easily create drawings in dia, select them and copy them to clipboard so then can then paste in openoffice without the step of exporting to png or what ever format is best suited to be imported by openoffice 3.x. there is a significant increase in migrations to linux desktops at this point and being able to do this simple function will greatly enhance the profile and usability of dia and openoffice. i hope this falls upon accepting ears, i would try it myself but I am too busy on the front lines trying to convince customers to switch and don't have the time to brush up on the necessary skills at the moment. perhaps a simple python plugin that will export selected portions of a diagram be exported to what ever format requested and put directly into the clipboard would be enough? inline editing of dia diagrams in openoffice of course would be even better!!! thanks for considering this.

this function got recently added for windows, but I'm still searching for a lean program to test *vector* transfer via clipboard under Linux.
Repeating the OLE failure (aka. inline editing) is a completely different beast.

seems as if everybody wants to paste to OpenOffice - the only vector support seems to be EMF, not that cross-platform ;)
