GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 562803
Display weather forecast in clock applet
Last modified: 2020-11-07 12:14:35 UTC
This bug report send to ubuntu[1] would be best implemented by upstream: "If you set up a location in the gnome clock applet it will give you your current weather. It will not give you your forecast like the weather applet does. I know devs may say this is what the weather applet is for, but I think it would be convenient if you could merge the weather applet functionality into the clock locations weather. I am sure there are people like me who not only need to track the current weather of a variety of places, but also the forecast and this clock applet is the ideal place for this. Wish: When you click on the clock and the list of locations with current weather pops up there is a button that says forecast. When you click it the forecast is displayed." Version of Ubuntu: 8.10 Version of Package: 2.24.1 [1] Launchpad bug 303757 in gnome-applets "Let the weather in gnome clock display forecast" https://launchpad.net/bugs/303757
I agree with this. Could use the same functionality for toggling the "Locations" display for the "Forecast" display. 5 days + current day's forecast for each location would be ideal. This is a task users perform often enough to warrant the ability to quickly see forecasts in the clock applet. I would use it everyday, multiple times a day.
Having this forecast ability would indeed be nice.
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years. If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/ Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
