Description Richard Laager 2008-11-26 16:58:26 UTC
As discussed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/152851

I'd like to see GNOME Screensaver pass the media keys into a locked session. This would allow one to, for example, control a music player with a remote (a remote causes the hardware to generate keyboard presses) when the machine is locked. It would also allow someone to come by and stop the music on a machine they didn't control.

If there are security concerns, make this an option that's off by default. Another suggestion might be to tell the application (now that GNOME is doing DBus signals for media keys) if the keypress came through a locked session, so that the application could honor requests to change/pause/stop the media, but not start it up.
