We additionally need:

- A field indicating the offset into its underlying datatype for bit fields
- A field indicating wether the field may be NULL (for pointer types)

Reducing the scope of this bug to just cover the NULL case (allow_none flag), since there is already http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=560280 about bit fields.
