Description Gilles Dartiguelongue 2008-11-16 21:38:49 UTC
Since gnome-session 2.24 is not ready for general consumption (see bug #552387 and to a larger extent bug #549150) we where reported that gnome-panel 2.24 can't work with gnome-session 2.22 at https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=246170.

I wrote a big ugly patch that would probably deserve me good stabbing but it seems to solve the issue in a nice backward compatible way for our users.

This is not going to happen upstream: I have no intention of maintaining code to have gnome-panel work with old versions of gnome-session (or any other gnome module, btw).

But if distributions want to ship this patch, then at least I can redirect them to your patch.

Then, maybe solution should be WONTFIX instead of FIXED ;-)

Hrm, that's what I wanted to do. Probably mis-selected the option. Not that it matters much anyway ;-)
