Version: 2.22.1.1 What were you doing when the application crashed? This is now a bug which I have experienced twice in exactly the same manner. I just finished a game of GNU chess. It was me vs. the computer on easy difficulty and I had checkmated the computer. I then hit the X in the upper right corner to close the program and it crashed.
