"various artists" cds aren'tdetected correctly
Last modified: 2008-11-15 14:44:40 UTC
Please describe the problem: Usually, "various artists" cds are detected correctly if the ID3 tags TALB and TPE2 are set correctly. However, this seesm to fail if, for a few songs on the album, the TPE1 and TPE2 tags are identical. Take this case: I have a cd by "Kruder & Dorfmeister" which contains mostly remixes from other artists but also two original songs. The remixes are tagged as follows: [bas@Eleanor]Muziek/Sorted/[Various Artists] - The K&D Sessions (1998)> mid3v2 -l "101 - Roni Size - Heroes (Kruder's Long Loose Bossa remixed by Peter Kruder).mp3" IDv2 tag info for 101 - Roni Size - Heroes (Kruder's Long Loose Bossa remixed by Peter Kruder).mp3: TDRC=1998 TIT2=Heroes (Kruder's Long Loose Bossa remixed by Peter Kruder) TRCK=101 TPE2=Kruder & Dorfmeister TPE1=Roni Size TALB=The K&D Sessions The original songs by Kruder and Dorfmeister themselves are tagged like this: [bas@Eleanor]Muziek/Sorted/[Various Artists] - The K&D Sessions (1998)> mid3v2 -l "205 - Kruder & Dorfmeister - Boogie Woogie.mp3" IDv2 tag info for 205 - Kruder & Dorfmeister - Boogie Woogie.mp3: TDRC=1998 TIT2=Boogie Woogie TRCK=205 TPE2=Kruder & Dorfmeister TPE1=Kruder & Dorfmeister TALB=The K&D Sessions Note that in both cases TALB and TPE2 are identical. However, banshee detects this as two different albums: both are labeled "Kruder & Dorfmeister - The K&D Sessions" in the album overview, but one contains all the remixes, and one contains the original songs. This seems like a bug in Banshee's album detection logic. Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
