Description Gregory 2008-11-09 05:50:08 UTC
It would be nice if Evolution remembered the size of the Tasks & Memos pane on the right hand side.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Start Evolution Calendar from a shell via "evolution -c calendar"
2) Resize the Tasks/Memos pane
3) Close Evolution
4) Restart Evolution

I'm currently in "Month" mode. Also, the pane disappears if I start the Evolution Calendar, click a view besides Month, and then click Month again.

Is this about the width of the Tasks/Memos pane or the placement of the divider between Tasks and Memos?
Comment 2 MAL 2010-02-09 14:05:33 UTC
I have also seen this for some time.

Confirmed on both Evolution 2.26 and 2.28.

When I run Evolution, it starts with the calendar view (the only part I use), and on my 1920x1200 resolution screen it has the following layout (excuse ASCII art, I didn't want to use a screenshot of my setup):

Even if I resize tasks/memos to a very narrow column, when I restart Evolution it starts up the above size again.

However, if I start Evolution and then change the calendar view to any other (work week, day, etc.), my chosen width of the tasks/memo pane is restored and then kept across any further changes of view. Unfortunately the original dimensions return when I restart Evolution.

I believe the problem is farther reaching than a simple preference however. Normally the month view does not have a tasks/memos pane, but if I change the view to month (the tasks/memos pane disappears correctly), then close and restart Evolution, the default view is the months view WITH a tasks/memos pane and shrunk to the dimensions in the above diagram.

Not to leave any info out, I use Evolution for remote calendaring only and have 10 CalDAV calendars (DAViCal), and 2 Google calendars set up.

If you need more info, feel free to ask me.

Most of the panel re-size problems have been fixed after removal of bonobo.

Could you please confirm if this bug is still happening at your end ? Please try in 2.30.3 or 2.32.1 and report back, thanks.
Comment 4 MAL 2010-12-23 11:18:19 UTC
I can only confirm that 2.30.2 now works correctly.

Thanks!
