Actually network manager won't allow to keep eth0 connected with a pppoe connection on the side. this is a great limitation as it doesn't allow to access the local network if using a ppp for connecting to the internet.

While it's possible to connect to a wifi network and a wired network with the right click doing the same on the pppoe (adsl) connection wil disconnect (remove the ip) from eth0 and do the pppoe connection only
